Satvir Dhillon – UBC Masters Student: Rehabilitation Sciences
Satvir graduated with his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. During his undergrad, Satvir had the opportunity to work on various research projects relating to older adult health at the Fraser Health Authority and SFU Gerontology Research Centre as part of the SFU Co-op Education program. This valuable Co-op experience was what sparked Satvir’s interest in health and clinical research. His research goals aimed at improving physical activity in advanced chronic lung disease patients, with a particular focus on people with cystic fibrosis. Outside of the lab, Satvir enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle by regularly going to the gym, practicing hot yoga, and rock climbing. His other interests include electronic dance music, superhero movies, and sports.
Christen Chan – UBC Masters Student: Rehabilitation Sciences
Christen Chan graduated with his Rehabilitation Sciences Masters Degree from the University of British Columbia. Christen worked with Dr. Pat Camp in the James Hogg Research Centre, focusing on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Chris’s research helped develop a Smartphone application to deliver rehabilitation and exercise to patients with COPD. As a graduate of the Physical and Health Education program at the University of Toronto, Chris was able to learn and work with various healthcare professionals in a high-performance athletic facility (FITS Toronto) for a year and a half. He also learned from an athletic therapist working with the University of Toronto’s Varsity Football team during the 2011 season. During his free time, Chris has a great passion for sports, especially basketball, and performance training.
Sandra Squire, MScPT – UBC MSc Student: Rehabilitation Science
Sandra Squire is in the Master’s of Rehabilitation Science Program at the University of British Columbia. She is a Physiotherapist for the BC Bleeding Disorder Program providing treatment advice and recommendations for patients and physiotherapists across BC and the Yukon via email, phone calls and telehealth in addition to specializing in outpatient orthopedics with a special interest in foot and ankle postoperative physiotherapy. In her free time, Sandra enjoys flamenco dance, yoga and hiking.
